2009 Walter Payton/NFL Man of the Year Award
Winner: Arizona Cardinal QB #13 - Kurt Warner
When answering questions about whether he feels like he
belongs in the Hall of Fame,  Warner often cited his desire
to instead be remembered for his  legacy away from
the field -- as someone who served his community
and his teammates well.

''Of all the awards given to NFL athletes, the Walter Payton
Man of the Year is the one that  stands out above the
rest to me because of what it represents,'' Warner said.
``When people look back at my career, I want them to see
a fierce competitor. But more importantly, I want to
be remembered for my consistency of character.''

Warner's charity, the First Things First Foundation,
has raised millions of dollars for several causes.

2008 Walter Payton/NFL Man of the Year Award
Winner: Miami Dolphin -  Jason Taylor

Back left to right: Jarrett Payton, Jason Taylor, Hines Ward, Jason Witten, Brian Waters, Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Front left to right: Connie Payton, Brittney Payton

Jason's achievements as an outstanding athlete on the football field, as well as, his
personal involvement in promoting the power of education, improved health care, and
quality of life made him a perfect candidate for this award. In 2007, Jason Taylor and
his foundation contributed nearly $350,000 as well as countless hours of his personal
time, love and energy to thousands of children in need. Jason's excellence on the football
field, along with the generosity and numerous acts of kindness he lovingly extends to
children and families in need, are truly a reflection of what this award represents.....
Congratulations, Jason Taylor, you are the Walter Payton/NFL Man of the Year!
