Back-to-School Supply Drive
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HOSTED
A 2010 SCHOOL DRIVE!
WCPF will be participating in the Englewood Back-to-School
Parade on Saturday August 28th.
Hundreds of filled backpacks, and additional school supplies
will be distributed to children in-need at this parade.
This would not be possible with-out the generosity
of local businesses and individuals who collected
new supplies to support WCPF.
You all have made a child smile with your giving.

Annual Back-to-School Drive Information:
The Walter & Connie Payton Foundation's priority is to help in-need
children in the State of Illinois who are apart of (DCFS)
Illinois Department of Children & Family Services,
and for individual families that contact us needing a helping hand.
One way we help these children is by gathering surrounding communities
to collect new school supplies. This can be done on your own as a
personal contribution, at your work, your place of worship, summer school,
a family gathering, ANYWHERE!

What is needed/given?
New backpacks each filled with:
1 pack of pencils
1 bottle of washable glue
1 24-count box of crayons
2 spiral notebooks
2 folders
1 pack loose-leaf paper
1 eraser
1 ruler
1 watercolor paint set
1 pair of children's safety scissors
1 Highlighter
*Additional supplies are always welcomed*
** Pencil Boxes - Calculators, Pens, Markers, ect..**

Who are the supplies given to?
Every August, these supplies are handed out at the Annual Back to School Parade
held in the Englewood Neighborhood, which is a low-income neighborhood in Chicago.
There are 35 schools in the Englewood area, all of which are "troubled" areas.
With the help of the Chicago Police Department, these supplies are distributed
to in-need children at the parade. These children would not be able to start
their school year with the proper supplies if we did not help them.
In addition, WCPFalso distributes school supplies to individual families
and schools that contact us needing a helping hand.

How do we collect these supplies?
Area businesses and individual persons host School Supply Drives to help
collect the needed items. The donated supplies are then brought to our warehouse
in Wood Dale to be sorted and stuffed into backpacks, with the generous help of
volunteers. Once the backpacks are sorted and filled, WCPF contacts the Chicago
Police Department that helps with the Back-to-School Parade to pick up the
filled backpacks for them to distribute at the parade in August 2010.
Along with the parade, WCPF also provides supplies to in-need families
throughout Illinois that contact us needing a helping hand.

Please contact us via email at: information@Payton34.com to let us know that you would like to host a School Supply Drive to collect new donations for WCPF. School Drives can be held anytime during the year!
Monetary Donations
Monetary donations are always welcome! Donations can be made on-line at www.Payton34.com or personal checks can be mailed directly to WCPF at: 1905 Marketview Drive #234, Yorkville, IL 60560 - (An acknowledgement letter is mailed to all persons that make a monetary donation directly to WCPF. Keep that letter for your tax purposes, as all donations made to WCPF are tax deductible.)
Donate School Supplies
Donate a backpack with new school supplies to WCPF at anytime. Drop off locations will be posted on our web and updated regulary. Drop off locations are only available from June - September but can be donated directly to WCPF all year long. All supplies must be new, and unused. **Helpful Hint: Please try to keep all purchases genderless, so any item can be given to a boy or a girl. Good colors are red, blue, green, yellow, orange and black. Picture folders are fun, but again please try to stick to something a boy or a girl would enjoy. **Examples: animals, cartoon characters or just plain colors are good.
Volunteer to sort at our warehouse in Wood Dale, Illinois. **Date and times to volunteer at the warehouse to sort supplies will be posted when available.
